My Logo-Case Study

Overview

After identifying my branding, I decided to create my logo. I wanted to create a symbol based on my name David. I wanted to have more than a simple logo, a symbol that represents me and my design. The reason for this choice is to have a logo that can be used in different creative projects; for example, the logo can be used on both my fine art and my Digital Design.     The process I began by identified common shapes, lanes, and patterns on my name. A critical letter on my name is the letter “D”; this letter is a half-circle, and having two, I could complete the full circle. The circle is a universal symbol; it represents the infinite, the self the original perfection. “It implies an idea of movement and symbolizes the cycle of time, the perpetual motion of everything that moves, the planets’ journey around the sun (the circle of the zodiac), the great rhythm of the universe. The circle is also zero in our system of numbering and symbolizes potential or the embryo. It has a magical value as a protective agent, ... and indicates the end of the process of individuation, of striving towards a psychic wholeness and self-realization” (Julien, 71). having a circle in my logo would give more depth to my logo; this symbol is planned to be used on different artistic projects; in a sense, this will be based on my branding. On my sketches, I draw a line crossing in the middle of my circle, so I played around more with lines. In this phase, I found that I wasn’t going to leave the middle line behind. So, I extended both lines creating the final form of my logo. The lines on the logo are straight vertical lines that communicate strength, stability, and authority (DeWitte, Larmann, Shields, 57). Having straight vertical lines will transmit authority to the viewer. Having confidence visually will help my brand, especially DaSanchez. These lines might appear parallel, but the angle established for these lines is set to interest if they continue. Now that my lines are set, and my logo is almost complete, I started to make the logo more updated. The circle then becomes an oval, and the lines of the circle start having more depth. On the bottom of the oval, the lines are wider, while on top, the line is thinner. Another change is the vertical lines now have rounded edges. This way, the symbols are more dynamic and have an organic feel. Color Now that my logo is almost completed, I started using color. This part is not very complex because my branding is already defined. For my branding, I used the color red; the reason behind this is that the color red stands out immediately. Red is a very energetic color and, at the same time, exhibits confidence. http://www.dasanchez.com/about.html
